We are so excited to be back with a revival of The Turn of the Screw: A One Woman Horror Show! This is our own original word-for-word adaptation of Henry James's classic tale of hauntings, obsession, and madness. The amazing Caitlin Lushington returns in a tour-de-force performance as the The Governess. Only two performances on Friday & Saturday, June 27 & 28, 2025 at 8pm. A young governess is hired to care for two orphaned children on a large estate in the English countryside. But she soon finds herself in the grips of the house's terrible secrets and horrifying past. Readers Theatre Repertory cordially invites you to The Turn of the Screw: A One Woman Horror Show, a new adaptation of Henry James's classic tale of terror, suspense, obsession, and madness.
"This is the scariest ghost story I've ever read," says adapter and director David Berkson, "and the most terrifying use of an unreliable narrator." This is a word-for-word adaptation of James's original. "We are so fortunate to have Caitlin Lushington return and perform this rich material," says Berkson. "The story needs a great actress to match its psychological complexity. Ghosts are spooky, but sometimes people are more terrifying."
The Turn of the Screw runs Friday and Saturday night, June 27 & 28, 2025 at 1201 SW 12th Avenue in Portland, OR. The show starts at 8PM and runs about an hour. Admission is $15.00. Reservations arre strongly encouraged, and walk-ins should arrive by 7:30PM. All reserved seats will be released to walk-ins at 7:55P sharp.
